Feeling Left Out

We spend so much of our time consumed with the babies that we have begun to leave out our first born, Jazmyn.

She has been pretty good about taking a backseat.  But this week she's started getting more clever about getting our attention by bringing out some of her old toys that haven't seen the light of day in a while.  One of her newfound favs is Yellow Mel.

He makes a loud squeaky when squeezed which will get anyone's attention pretty quickly.... unless you are competing with four, 7-month olds that tend to cry over the squeak - then, you're out of luck.  But Jaz is no dummy and she's come up with a few ways to compete:

First, She Thought She'd Put Him Where the Babies Eat & Play... Surely We'll Notice Them There

Next, she tried the laundry basket

When that didn't work, she tried the babies' toy box

And lastly, she just put him straight on top of Finn & they FINALLY got noticed!

I'll try to post some video of the babies and Jaz this week.  They are really starting to interact with her more and more. Noah cracks up laughing every time she runs after her toy. Cohen thinks its so funny that she can squeak her toys over and over again.  Jaz, your time is coming - these four little friends will be your best playmates yet.

Mac Daddy Movies

We recently transferred over to the Mac world and have been trying to tinker with the video and photo applications that it has.  Here are two of our first productions that we did yesterday. Hope you enjoy!

Weekend With Grammie

Grammie & Gang

What a weekend! Grammie came up for a fun-filled weekend with the kiddos. It perfect spring weather for getting out of the house and enjoying some much needed fresh air. We decided this would be the weekend to start teaching the kids to become more independent.

We taught Sophia how to rake....

....and bake!

Cohen learned to turn pages by himself

We were going to take the babies on their first horseback ride, but they didn't have any saddles. I felt they had enough padding in their diapers to go bare back but Mari wouldn't go for it. So for now, we just made introductions.

We have Noah practicing for his modeling career and he is taking very good direction - this is his pondering pose.

Finn really wants to learn to use the computer and is upset since we're trying to encourage outdoor activities for now. He bangs on the keyboard any chance he can get, which isn't so much the problem as is his excessive drooling. Rules of the house are no drinks or drool near the keyboard.

Sicks Months Old

Hang on! It's a wild ride!

Wow! 6 months old! It doesn't seem like a lot until you think of it as half a year old. And to think at this time last year, we were trying to figure out how we were going to manage triplets!

Our good friend, Alaine, came over to hang with the wee-ones so we could go out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary and the babies' 1/2 b-day. We had a little sushi, a little wine and a grand ol' time! For the babies' big day, we graduated them to a 4-hour schedule so they now have 2 hours of playtime followed by 2 hours of recovery time (for us of course). They still sleep from 6:30p - 6:30a!!!!!!!! Just that now they all sleep in their own crib. We finally broke down and got the last 2 cribs. It seemed someone was always screaming because they were kicked in the head or having their hair pulled. Naptime is much better now.

Wow Finn! That's cool! (said in Sophia's voice)

Unfortunately, Mari has been sick for the past couple of weeks along with Cohen, and now Sophia and Finn are beginning to cough as well. Mari has been battling through it and doing an amazing job with the kiddos.
Brotherly Love - Noah and Finn

Cohen 15# 12oz
Noah 11# 12oz
Finn 14# 9oz
Sophia 13# 6oz
Noah's last appointment with Dr. Quiros went very well. His liver values are getting much better and his bilirubin is totally normal! They said he is rockin' and that we could start trying him on cereals now! He is not quite sure what to think of rice cereal, just holding it in his mouth and not swallowing. This little dude has so much energy, I think he would stay up all day if we let him.
Umm, what is this?
Cohen is still the big boy of the bunch and seems to be the first to do everything (1st one delivered, 1st to roll over...) His newest thing is being the first one to get sick. Yuck! Poor little guy has been coughing for almost a month now but only started really feeling bad the last week or so. Mari took him to the pediatrician who thinks Coco may have asthma; chest X-rays are normal so thankfully no signs of RSV. He now uses an inhaler and nebulizer treatment a few times a day, but we hope to stop these treatments soon. He has been such a good sport about it, usually falling asleep with the mask and the saddest look ever on his face.

Is it Cohen?....or Maverick?
Finn has really changed over the past month or so. He has been an animal with his bottle, ravaging every feeding. He is making a run at Cohen for the biggest boy of the bunch. Finn has such a beautiful, mouth-wide-open smile that will melt you - and a double chin to match.
Finn goes karaoke

Sophia is our little alarm clock. She wakes up about 15 minutes before mealtime and starts screaming 15 minutes before it is time to go to bed. We're pretty sure this is her way of beating the boys to the punch. We got our fancy new stroller, the Runabout, and Sophia absolutely loves it! She will be asleep before we even get to the street and sleep the entire time.
I'm a sucker for those blue eyes

What humidity does to a girl's hair

Cohen, Finn, and Sophia are all eating oatmeal, fruit and veggies 2-3 times a day. Mari has been pureeing their fruit and veggies for them which is pretty cool. It's like she's making dinner for them which seems so much more special.
We are looking forward to this weekend when Grammy stays over and gets to love on the babies.....and we get to go to a movie.

The future's so bright you gotta wear shades

Six-In-Six

Smathers Beach
Key West, Florida * February 28, 2002

Who would have thought that 2 people who met in a hot tub in South Padre Island on Spring Break would be married....for 6 years and now with a family of 6? It's incredible to look back and see how much we have grown together as a couple and how much hair I used to have. Our parents probably thought they'd never get a wilder surprise than the day we called and said, "We're married!" until the day we called and said, "It's Four!". I know those days of jetting off to Key West to elope next to the ocean at sunset are far behind us, but each year seems to bring bigger and better adventures. I can't wait to see what memories 50 years will bring!

This wedding video was the first video we ever made. I think it is pretty cool and I love to pop it in the VCR whenever friends come over just to see Mari cringe. I'll save you a trip to our house and the sight of Mari's beet-red face and post the video on the www. Take a lesson from this experience - never, ever do "voice-overs" - especially if they are your vows! It's a cheesy video but it makes us laugh together and that's something I hope we'll never forget to do.

It's All About the Runabout!

We've tried everything to get around having to purchase the stately quad stroller that must be a New England Patriots mascot alternate and is known as The Runabout. I had heard that it doesn't fit into elevators and is a bear to travel with. But we finally gave in and decided we'd avoid all tall buildings and purchase the hitch connector for easy voyaging. Let me tell you, I am a happy woman today as I got to get out to go jogging with my four babies in tow. This thing is amazing. It's lighter than most single strollers and if you can remember not to push down too hard on the back so as not to tip it (no worries, there is a safety bar so they won't fall too far to the ground) it's a piece of cake! Plus, it motivates me to keep jogging at a quick pace since we always have an audience with all of the curious passerbys. Thank you, Runabout! We love our new ride!
My New Workout Partners
The babies are all getting so big. We weigh them weekly at home and they are growing like weeds. Cohen is the biggest at 15# 7.5 oz, then Finn at 13# 12.5 oz, next Sophia at 12# 12.5 oz and finally Noah at 11# 1.5 oz! We have lots of smiles, laughter and a few squeals (we love you, Noah!) which all far outweigh the crying these days!

How Sweet It Is!

There are a dozen chores I need to get done during the babies' naptimes today, including a massive pile of laundry sitting in my hallway waiting to be stain-treated and dinner to be made - yet I find myself working on a video montage for Valentine's Day. Creativity before responsibility is my motto today! Plus, I can always order Chinese and do laundry while they make dinner - now that's what I call successful multitasking. Anyhow, here's a quick video to show you what the babies have been up to today. Happy Valentine's Day from all of us at the Goerlich house!
