Thursday's Truth - A Kid At Heart

What are your favorite memories about being a kid?  Mine include laughing out loud over almost anything, having best friends live next door, feeling rich with ten pennies in my pocket and even richer once I had bought half a dozen pieces of candy with it.  The simplest things made me happy.  It's the moments when the box that wraps a present brings as much delight as the gift itself.  Or when you never worried about how a home was run only how fast you could run through it to the backyard of opportunities.  When did we complicate things as grown ups? Why are we looking for happiness when it's all around us?  Why are we worried about taking care of ourselves and everyone else when God is already doing that for us?  Being a kid at heart is what God intends - trust in Him to take care of you like He's the only Daddy you know, laugh out loud, be silly, find joy in the simple things that have always been right around you, meet some new best friends next door, live each day as if you've never lived it before.

Finn

He called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."

Matthew 18:2-4

Amen to that Mari. We are not called to be suffering servants but to live, and enjoy, life to the fullest. Love Debbie

I didn't get a chance to comment last week-but this is an inspired idea! It is a personal and beautiful way to share God's Word-sharing something of yourself as well as the truths of Scripture. Thank you for adding another blessing to my Thursdays! Much love to all of you-Alaine

Hi, I just recently came across your blog, and let me say, I am amazed at how you do what you do. My husband and I were curious where you came up with the name Cohen. We have it picked out for our little boy, but we thought we were the only ones. It's not in any baby books, or online anywhere, and we've heard it as a last name and loved it!!! Just curious, and wanting to let you know you are always in our prayers!

Hi Mari! I LOVE your blog and you are such an inspiration! My husband and I also attend COF and I have been following your blog ever since your sweet, little kiddos were born. I was actually one of the volunteers from church that came to help feed the babies! I can still remember holding sweet Cohen and thinking how I couldn't wait to be a mom and hold my kids one day! I remember leaving that night to go home and thinking to myself, "wow I though MY life could be stressful at times but I get to go home to a husband, dog and two cats. Mari is here everyday with these 4 newborn babies. I don't know how she does it!" Little did I know that infertility would come to play a role in my life a year and a half later and now my husband and I are about to go through our second IVF cycle. The thought of multiples used to absolutely terrify me, but now that we're faced with infertility and multiples could obviously be in our future, it's not quite as scary any more and that's because of people like you and your blog. Every time my husband or a family member says, "Courtney, you would never be able to carry multiples, twins would be your absolute max!" (I'm only 5'4) I tell them, "Well Mari Goerlich did it and she's small and petite too!"

Thank you for sharing your faith and your life with all of us!
